Meltdown Monday Week 3

After three weeks, things are still looking down -- and that's a good thing. I dropped another three pounds this week -- as you can see in the chart -- bringing the total loss for Meltdown Monday to nine pounds. This week I bought some clothes to wear exercising -- and I did exercise -- and I've managed to lay off the cheese steaks and pizza when we order out at work. Salads with grilled chicken or buffalo chicken are my friend. And I've actually found myself drinking water. I haven't completely given up my diet sodas or tea -- and will never give up my coffee -- but I am drinking more water.

There's a long way to go in this. It's a year-long project with no specific weight goal. The goals are to feel better, look better and have more of a selection in clothes to choose from. ... And not feel so scrunched up in little arm chairs.

Meltdown Monday Week 2

Drops in the bucket but they add up. I've cut back on ordering out at work at night and on the few nights I do, I've made it a salad of some sort. I also started the "exercise program," though that is still in its infancy and needs some tweaking. I've gotten quite a few suggestions -- thank you all -- and plan to look at them all as I work through this.

Meltdown Monday: Week 1

12/31/06 weight: 274 pounds
01/08/07 weight: 271 pounds

Despite having more than my fair share of beer and cheese dip during yesterday's tailgating before the Eagles playoff win over the Giants -- much more to come on that in a later post -- my meltdown was successful this week. As you can see in the scale picture, I'm down to 271 pounds, a loss of 3 pounds in my first week. This week it's time to start exercising more and sleeping better. In general, I need to come up with a better routine. Since switching positions at work, I have been in a strange funk.

For all past Meltdown Mondays, click here. There's just the one other one so far, but I figured I'd make this part of each week's post.

The Resolutionary War

I'm one year cigarette-free today. I quit smoking January 1, 2006, as part of my New Year's resolution. The best part of it all was that my mom quit with me. She had smoked for a number of years, then quit for a few, before starting again. She is also now smoke-free for a year. Congratulations Mama. I am so proud of you....

So now it's time for a new resolution. I'm not so sure if I will be as successful at this one. Here it is -- in video form -- a couple of hours early. I'm going down the street to have a New Year's drink or two or three or four or more (I'm walking)... Happy New Year's to you all.

Hat tip to Big Dre. If you do start up the Biggest Loser contest. Count me in.
