Homegrown pleasure

Our tomato plants are finally starting to produce. I love bacon and tomato sandwiches because the first bite always reminds of a summer breakfast or lunch at Mammy and Granddaddy's house in Roxboro, N.C. I'm not talking about the fancied up variety of sandwich from the suburban bistro ... I'm talking real bacon, tomato, mayo, salt and pepper on fresh white bread. That's it.

Mmmmmmmmmmm. Almost orgasmic.

Apparently there's also some gardening going on over near Freedom Girl's place.

Oooooh, that brings back so many memories. I can see your Grandaddy spreading that mayo on that bread now and all of you fussing at him about the salt that he puts on it. He did enjoy his salt and really didn't pay any attention to any of you fussing at him. Thanks for the memories. (as Bob Hope would say) Love you, Mama

I can taste one now. I also like BLTs without the L. The coldness of the lettuce ruins what the sandwich sets out to be.

mmmmm mmmmm good......you're making me hungry for one right now!! Of course, being the vegetarian that I am, I use fake "B" - Morningstar Farms version of bacon - tastes like the real thing and no pigs have to die. ;- )

Second best use: fried tomatoes with white gravy and corn on the cob - no summer is complete without it.
