Ants almost in my pants

There's this beautiful old Japanese Maple up near the front corner of our yard. I've noticed it has some rotten spots on it and recently noticed what looks like sawdust around the base of the tree beneath these spots. I figured it must be carpenter ants in there. So today I armed myself with a couple things of ant spray and took it to them. Besides the first couple that came staggering out and fell onto my arm (you'll notice my panic-stricken shake to get them off of me), most of them scurried around a short while before falling dead or paralyzed beneath the tree.

I'll probably go out there tomorrow and there will be hundreds more to kill. Experts say the ants aren't damaging the tree (the damage already being done before by whatever caused the rot), but I still want to get them away from my older house before they take up residence in one of the walls.

Dude, time to take down the Christmas lights! LOL This is a great idea for a little movie. The kids and I created our own entertainment with a piece of food placed near an ant colony. We watched the number of ants grow and grow.

The video camera just came in the mail, battery is charged and its time to play!
