Way Back When-sday

The back of this photo tells me who gave me the Santa outfit, the rocking horse and the monkey.

The one thing it doesn't tell me is who gave me the hit off their bong before this picture was taken. I look totally out of it -- in a happy as hell, crazy-eyed, drooling kind of way. The rocking horse -- which has JEFFREY painted in white on the side of it (underneath where my leg is in this picture) -- is still around. I saw it in the basement at Mama and Daddy's the last time I was there. I'll try to get a picture of it with my niece on it to show you.

nah...you need another bong hit...and then you get on and replicate the original. I've got a Santa suit you can borrow. TLC

Of all the years I have looked at this picture, it never crossed my mind that you looked like you had had a hit from someone's bong. Now I won't ever look at this picture the same way. I had happy memories of this picture. It was your first Christmas and the first time Santa came to our house.

You know I'm kidding, Ma.... But look at those eyes....And who is Granny? I know I'm not even 1 in this picture so I hadn't started calling anyone anything, but we didn't call anyone Granny that I know of?

I wrote a comment about your calling Mama, Mammy, but it didn't show up. I guess I'll have to send it again.

I'll try one more time to explain to you about the "Granny" on the back of this picture. I had wanted you to call Mama that but one day when you were about a year or so old we went shopping with Mama and you were between us. I asked her what did she want you to call her. She said she didn't care what you called her except she did NOT want you to call her Mammy. You looked straight at her and said, "Mammy, Mammy, Mammy." So I guess she used that reverse psychology on you back then to get what she wanted. I called her mother Mammy, you called my mama, Mammy and now my grandchildren call me Mammy and you are right, we never called anyone Granny. I love you, Mama
