Early turkey dinner

Natalie -- with some help from her mom -- cooked an early Thanksgiving dinner for a group of friends Thursday night. I had to work and since it's usually been just a girl thing, that was fine. But the weather was nasty here with some roads flooding. That forced some people to call and say they couldn't make it. So Natalie switched gears, invited a couple more people and their husbands and all of a sudden it was a party I would have felt comfortable attending. John and Jonathon (pictured) had first dibs on everything ... the Maker's Mark, the shrimp, the stuffing, the turkey, the gravy, the potatoes, the asparagus, the desserts. But they were all kind enough to save me a plate -- and some Maker's Mark. But there's one thing that's sort of irking me .... Does anyone think I should be concerned there are no other women in these pictures? Like maybe Natalie and her mom had John and Jonathon over and just told me there were four or five other ladies here. Hmmmmmm.

At left is the mantel decorated for the dinner party.

At right is the bar set up for some whiskey sours -- perfect for a rainy night.
